Trail Tote by Noodlehead
Sewing Experience Level Required: Advanced Beginner
Additional Materials to Buy: YES!
In this 4 hour class, we will be sewing the large version of The Trail Tote by Noodlehead. I’ve sewn the small and large versions of this bag many times for myself and friends. Not only is it a roomy bag that is fun to wear, it is also a great skill builder with zippered pockets and ⅛” covered piping. I will sew a bag with you, providing a live demonstration of each step before you attempt it.
This a project for Advanced Beginners. Students should know how to sew straight stitches with a sewing machine, thread the machine, wind/insert a bobbin, and change the needle.
Materials that you must buy separately and bring with you to class:
The Trail Tote by Noodlehead pattern. You can buy it here for $12. If class is less than 2 weeks away, I suggest buying the PDF version so that you have plenty of time to cut your fabric and fuse your interfacing.
All pattern pieces cut and interfacing applied according to the pattern instructions. If you want to schedule an extra 90 minutes with me beforehand to get help cutting and fusing interfacing, there’s an option for an add-on in the booking.
1 ½ yards of ⅛” covered cotton piping. I like this product. If you’d like to cover your own and bring it with you to class, that’s also an option, but you’ll likely need a piping presser foot. We’ll be using one in class to attach the piping to the exterior.
Materials that I will provide, but you may prefer to choose your own colors/styles:
18mm magnetic snap in silver
8” zipper in nylon or metal, various colors and metals
¼” fusible tape
Gutermann all-purpose thread in white, black, off white, or navy blue.
Like all my classes, you will have the use of a Janome sewing machine (8077 or 7330) and basic sewing tools like scissors, acrylic ruler, needles, clips, pins, iron, marking tools, etc.
